It is only fitting that baby boomers can be proud of themselves for who they are and for what they have achieved. During the years 1946 – 1964 were when the baby boomers were born.

We are now in the year 2010 so the first generation of baby boomers born in 1946, just after  the Second World War which ended in 1945, are just coming up to retirement. But there is still much they can do prior to and past their retirement.

A person in their 60s now is still relatively young. They still have an average life expectancy of over 25 years on average. For some there will be very little choice but to continue working to provide for a reasonable living standard.

They can’t afford to hang up their boots yet. For State provision is very menial and is diminishing in value. A person cannot live on £60 per week which is a figure not far off the statutory provision. This won’t even cover the food bill. Then there is the cost of housing, energy costs such as electricity, gas and water bills. Not forgetting also that dreadful community charge.

And what about provision for holidays, entertainment and clothing. You could become destitute in England due to the high cost of living  mainly from  government taxation. No wonder so many people have become exiles when they have either too much money or not enough money. If there was no taxation of your income you would be left with over 50 percent of your income after living expenses in most cases.

So as a baby boomer you might want to seriously consider your options of taking your money to another country where the cost of living is much lower. Where the burden of taxation is not so punitive. In this country it’s like you are being penalized for trying to make a living.

And worked hard you did. You have put the time in and should now be reaping the rewards for your labour. But perhaps all you have to show for it are your memories. So you will hear a lot of baby boomers talking about the ‘good old days’.

There were some really great achievements of which you were the creators with the vision. So after the Second World War you were the ones who had to rebuild the economies of the world.

You were the generation that weren’t allowed to cry. Your parents said I’ll give you something to cry about’.

You witnessed and was part of the first man mission to land on the moon. Remember Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandella? What about President Kennedy or Malcolm X.

Do you remember the Industrial Revolution and the age of coal and steel? That was you. Now we are in the Information Age, again this is due to your vision.

Some say that we are now overwhelmed by too much information. Is this true a bad thing, I think not. The internet and mobile phones, HD television, IPods etc. These are all due to you.

Thank you Baby Boomers. You have much to be proud of. Get a ‘Free’ copy of the Baby Boomer Tips and learn what is the way forward.
